Hey there! I’m Nora Kate Porten and I am a Graphic Design Major at the University of Southern Mississippi. Although, I love my little school town in Hattiesburg, Mississippi; it is just one of many places I call home. I’m was born in Bethlehem, Pennysylvania and moved around a little bit throughout my life. Most of my childhood was spent in O’Fallon, Missouri (the place with the big arch). These are places I’ve actually lived but the one place I feel like I spend most of my time is the George Hurst. This little building is where I spend countless hours stairing at a computer, cutting random things out, ect. Other from designing being a huge part of my life I also have other hobbies. I LOVE thrifting, in fact me and my mom cannot help ourselves from thrifting where ever and whenever. I also really enjoy painting, reading, running, meeting new people as well as many other things. I find that there isn’t a lot of things that I don’t like.

Unlike most people I decided on Graphic Design as my future when I was in 5th Grade. I distinctly recall a Graphic Designer coming in to speak on career day and from that day on I moved from wanting to be an art teacher to eyes for Graphic Design. I wasn’t sure if I would want to stick with it as I got older but I sure did. In fact, my appreciation grew deeper and the love for the art became even more exciting. I won’t say that it was a conflict free journey (very far from it). However, the more times I spent freaking out over a project and how I would handle the work load the more satisfied I was with the final project.

I’m excited for the rest of my career and to continuously prove myself as a designer.
