Harsh Vs. Soft Light
For this project, I was tasked with taking images portraying hard light and soft light. Hard light is where the lighting in the image is being casted to create harsh dark lines in a shadow. Whereas soft light is the opposite and creates almost no harsh shadows in the image. I wanted the harsh light to not look ominous which I discovered was a challenge for me. No matter what my subject matter was the image wasn’t displaying the way I had hoped. The Image I used for my hard light was an unexpected success. While taking these photos, I doubted that these photos would look good at all. Due to the subject matter being a dog it was quite difficult to keep her still but I was surprised by the results. For the soft light I chose a more light hearted image to help push that softness. To do this I used a teddy bear in my photos.
